Training and/or certification in fields of special education, social work, counseling, trauma, behavior management, brain-based learning, and coaching
I work with adolescents and adults facing a crisis or chronic stress in their lives and who want to cope more effectively, reassess priorities and set realistic goals.
What type of coaching do you offer and to whom?
Often my clients have experienced chronic anxiety, a deep loss, or a serious health diagnosis. I can help them tell their stories in many different ways and look at their own patterns of stress management from different vantage points. I bring training in listening and laughter, asking good questions, commitment to genuine relatedness, strengths-based problem-solving, and knowledge of brain-based methodologies including self-assessment tools and innovative stress-reducing practices.
Why did you get into coaching? What motivates you?
I began my career as an inner city social studies teacher in Chicago, New York and Bridgeport CT; then I became a special education teacher, then administrator and later added skills as a social work professional and coach. I am most at home in the coaching world. I love working with people who are motivated to face their stress by building a broader perspective on their problems, crafting a safe, rich and nourishing environment within which to function daily, and design a set of innovative, highly personalized strategies.
What differentiates you from other coaches?
My ability to help others identify strengths, prioritize goals, improve networking skills, and end toxic relationships. My strengths as both an educator and counselor, as well as an intuitive and feeling-centered person.
What values are important to you when working with clients?
Being genuine, slowing the pace, setting realistic goals, being a good listener, offering many different resources, identifying strengths, asking good questions, and promoting laughter
What do you do for fun?
I love to paint tiles, needlepoint, cook, watch sports, read spiritual literature, swim, walk, spend time with friends, and hang out with my children and grandbabies.
