Coaches Spotlight: Q&A with Member Donna Brooks

What type of coaching do you offer and to whom?

My coaching is body-based. People generally seek me out donnabrooks

because they are experiencing stress, strain or pain. I use

movement education and very gentle yoga therapy to help

them. Typically, although not always, there is a connection

between the movement habits that created this pain and

something that needs change or attention in their lives.  As we work, clients

discover easier and more supportive ways of both moving and navigating the

challenges of their lives.

Why did you get into coaching? What motivates you?

Coaching is a natural outgrowth of working with people’s bodies. As tension

and dysfunctional movement patterns let go, my clients naturally talk about

challenges they are facing or aspirations they have. An important part of my work

is to help them use their new found Body Wisdom to create positive and lasting

change in related challenging areas of their lives.

What differentiates you from other coaches?

I have a fine tuned understanding of the body and how by gently and clearly

introducing new possibilities for easier and more supportive movement you

also creates the foundation for solid and lasting life change. Who we are and the

choices we make in our lives are never separate from how we live in our bodies.

What values are important to you when working with clients?

I value the “Original Body Wisdom” of each person. Wisdom is located in all of us

and expresses through how we move and feel. I see my job as getting out of the

way so the deeper intelligence of each person can rise up and express itself.

What do you do for fun?

I like to dance! I also like conversation, creating great meals and getting outside

 in nature.
